Charge at Home for a Fraction of Public Charging Costs

A compatible smart charger can be programmed around your routine: charge overnight using your electricity supplier's available off-peak tariff and have the car ready for the morning commute. We install chargers across Fife for homeowners, landlords and businesses.

We can help set up suitable scheduling features for the charger you choose. The myenergi Zappi can also use available surplus power from compatible solar installations.

How it works

From Enquiry to Charging in Four Steps

Survey

We survey the property, checking the consumer unit, where the charger will go and the cable route, so the installation is planned properly.

Clear quotation

You get a free, no-obligation quote covering the charger, installation and certification, with costs explained before any work starts and no unexpected charges.

Tidy installation

Neat cable runs and a clean finish, with everything tested properly before we leave.

Demo & certificate

Where supported by your chosen charger, we set up the charger and app, demonstrate how it works, help schedule charging around your routine and show you how to override the schedule when needed. We also issue your electrical certification.

What We Check Before Installing Your EV Charger

Every home is a little different: a 1970s bungalow in Glenrothes and a stone terrace in St Andrews need different approaches. Before we quote, we check the things that actually decide how your installation should be done:

Your fuse box

We look at your consumer unit (fuse box) to check its condition, age and whether it has room for the charger's dedicated circuit.

Electrical capacity

We make sure your supply can comfortably run a 7kW charger alongside the shower, hob and everything else your home already uses.

Charger position

Where the charger works best for your parking, and where the weatherproof unit will happily shrug off Scottish weather year round.

Cable route

The tidiest route from your fuse box to the charger, including how to get through the thick stone walls in many older Fife homes.

Earthing & protection

Charging a car outdoors needs the right earthing arrangement and protective devices. We confirm exactly what your installation requires.

Load management

Where needed, we set up load management so the charger automatically eases off when the rest of the house is working hard, protecting your supply.

Wi-Fi or mobile signal

Smart features need a connection at the charger's position, so we check your Wi-Fi or mobile signal reaches it before we fit anything.

Any upgrade work

If your consumer unit needs upgrading or anything else needs sorting first, we tell you up front and include it in your quotation.

Charging Points for Homes and Businesses

Most of our EV charger installations are at homes across Fife: driveways, garages and everything in between. But home charging is only half the picture. We also install workplace EV charging for Fife businesses wanting to charge company vehicles or offer staff and customer charging, and we fit chargers at rental properties for landlords future-proofing their portfolios.

  • Home electric car charging points, tethered or untethered
  • Workplace EV charging for staff, fleets and visitors
  • Chargers for rental properties and landlords
  • All installed on a dedicated circuit and fully certified

Workplace Charging Scheme: eligible organisations may receive support covering up to 75% of purchase and installation costs, capped at up to £500 per socket. The customer applies for and provides the voucher; as an OZEV-authorised installer, we complete the installation and submit the claim on the customer's behalf, subject to scheme eligibility.

Haddon fitted an OHME EV charger. Was not the easiest of jobs as we have a 3 storey house and fuse box was not easily accessible. He figured out the best most aesthetic route for the cable. Very professional. Respectful of our home. So good to find someone you can really trust. Highly recommended.

EV charger questions

EV Charging Questions We Get Asked

How much does an EV charger installation cost in Fife?
Every home is a little different, so it depends on the charger you choose, the cable route and how far the charger sits from your consumer unit. We survey the property and provide a clear quotation before any work starts.
How long does the installation take?
A straightforward EV charger installation is normally completed within one day. More complex electrical work or a requirement for prior electricity-network approval can affect the timing, which we'll explain with your quotation.
Do I need to contact the electricity network operator myself?
No. We assess whether the installation can be connected and notified afterwards or needs prior approval, then handle the required notification or application to the distribution network operator for you.
Do I need off-street parking?
For a home charger, yes, you need somewhere to park on your own property, like a driveway or garage. Trailing cables over a public pavement isn't safe or permitted. If you're not sure your parking counts, send us a photo and we'll tell you.
Can my fuse board handle an EV charger?
The consumer unit and electrical supply are checked as part of planning the installation. If an upgrade or modification is needed, we'll explain it and include it in your quotation.
What's the difference between tethered and untethered?
A tethered charger has its own cable permanently attached, so you can just grab it and plug in. An untethered charger has a socket, so you use your car's own cable, which some people prefer for a tidier look. The charger can be selected with your current and likely future requirements in mind. We fit both and can help you choose.
Will a smart charger work with my solar panels?
Yes. That's exactly what the myenergi Zappi is designed for. It can divert your excess solar generation straight into your car, so you're charging on free electricity instead of exporting it for pennies.
